National Association for Ethical Standards in Advertising NAESO was admitted into European Advertising Standards Alliance EASA membership, during an online General Assembly meeting held on May 14th, by unanimous vote of present member organizations from many European countries.
“We are delighted to welcome NAESO as a new member of our Alliance. On May 14 2020 EASA’s General Assembly ratified the Serbian SRO’s application to EASA as Observer Member. Not only is this the climax of a long process which showcases the commitment of the local advertising ecosystem to responsible marketing communications but it is also the starting point of an even more vibrant collaboration with our self-regulatory network addressing societal and technological changes which will shape our future. On this note, I would like to warmly thank IAA Serbia and all the women and men who were instrumental in supporting and bringing about this self-regulatory initiative.
Welcome to our self-regulator family! You can count on our support!”, stated Lucas Boudet, Director General of EASA.
“We are very excited to join EASA family of European self-regulatory organisations in the field of advertising. This is an important achievement and a milestone for our organisation. A group of Serbian advertising industry, marketing and creative industry professionals and sector representatives has been working very diligently over the past years to establish Serbia’s self-regulatory body. In this journey to establish NAESO, EASA has been a strong supporter and a valuable partner to us by providing guidance, advice, best practices, and putting us in touch with other national SROs (Spanish, Bulgarian, Greek, Hungarian and Romanian SROs – to name a few) that have shared their expertise and knowledge with us. As we grow and develop our organisation, we look forward to continue working with EASA and its members to further advance the self-regulation in the Serbian advertising field”, said the President of the NAESO Managing Board, Vanda Kučera, after the vote of EASA membership to accept NAESO’s application to join EASA at the May 14th General Assembly.
In line with EASA administrative procedures, NAESO was ratified in the Observer Member status and will receive support from EASA in providing best practice examples, sharing knowledge, providing contacts with EASA membership and other means of support for development and promotion of self-regulation in the advertising sector in Serbia.
EASA has a network of 40 organisations representing 27 self-regulatory organisations from Europe and 13 organisations representing the advertising ecosystem (the advertisers, agencies and the media). EASA’s role is to set out high operational standards for advertising self-regulatory systems, as set out in the Best Practice Model and EASA’s Charter. EASA helps to make sure that ads are legal, decent, honest, truthful, prepared with a sense of social responsibility and created with due respect to the rules of fair competition.
